Chiroptactor

We’re 121 years old this month. Let there be cake! {Plus, exciting news from Susan}

It's the birthday of chiropractic.

What does cake have to do with Chiropractic, you ask?

Three things:

  • It’s our birthday! The chiropractic profession is 121 years old this month, and we think that warrants a spot of baking.
  • Cake represents the perfect opportunity to do health better. And health is what we’re all about.
  • {Bonus reason to celebrate from Susan} I’m taking time off to get married! Yay! I’ll be away from Sept 23 – Oct 19 to get hitched in Naracoorte (at my parent’s house) then off for our honeymoon in Vietnam and Singapore. Needless to say, I’m incredibly excited! Thanks for all your kind words in clinic.

Chiropractic honours the whole person, from the spine and central nervous system to nutrition and lifestyle.

And food plays a huge part in that. What we eat has the power to profoundly nourish us – or cause harm.

Despite best intentions, ‘celebrations’ are often times people trip up on healthy eating. It’s easy to lose the rules and fall face-first into mud cake when it’s right there in front of you, giving you the eye.

But we’re here to help!

Instead of subscribing to sugary, colour and chemical-laden baked treats, you can create healthier alternatives that support your body and satisfy your tastebuds.

Happy Birthday to us! And happy, heavenly, healthy cake baking to you.

Best-ever orange and almond cake

Orange Cake

Via. Elana’s Pantry

Got a last flourish of oranges from the tree?

This boiled orange and almond cake is a delicious way to use them. We’ve baked it so many times – and not once has it turned out terribly. In fact, it’s a no-fail cake.

It’s gluten and dairy free plus rich in protein, healthy fats, low-glycaemic sugars and vitamin C from beautiful, seasonal oranges.

Yummo!

Big thanks to Elana’s Pantry for the recipe.

I-can’t-believe-it’s-not-naughty Chocolate Cake.

Chocolate Cake

Here’s one for the chocoholics. (And people you want to trick with healthy cake that tastes naughty.)

It uses cacao powder – which is high in antioxidants and doesn’t contain milk solids or sugars. Combined with almond flour, maple syrup and organic butter, this cake is exceptionally wholesome while staying low on artificial ingredients. Actually, there’s nothing artificial in it at all!

Enjoy!

Thank you, My Heart Beets.
